Harp Guitar pickups

Hey guys,

Just wondering what HG players are using for pickups?
Or I guess we could open it up for pickup recomendations.

I used the Trance Audio Amulet system. It's a stereo pickup system, so I had one pickup on the sub bass strings, and the other on the treble side of the guitar side. Also has a Sunrise in the sound hole of the guitar. Sounded good, and no feedback issues.

I have a stereo K&K system:
- Pre-Phase Miniature Preamp (www.kksound.com/prephase.html)
- Pure Mini (www.kksound.com/puremini.html)

There are also some options posted on Greg Miner's site: www.harpguitarmusic.com/pickups.htm

I use like 6 'Dazzo's in my Lark in the Morning Dyre knockoff . SOUNDS GREAT !!!
I practically dont even need the Sunrise let alone the Hi techs (or whatever they are called ) for the sub bass strings.
I have a pic of this somewhere .... Gryphons carries Dazzo you might wanna try em , these are new.
Dazzo claims to beat a FRAP !

Ben ,

I read MIchael used one Frap in the Dyer guitar - in his book published by Stropes (forgot name of book ) .
He said the Frap even heard some of the attack of the sub bass strings .
How did you hear of this about the barcus berry ?

Back in the day, he used to use an autoharp pickup for the sub-bass strings. In the mid-90's, he switched to Barcus Berry's.

I just Googled "Michael Hedges Harp Guitar" and came across this page - Looks pretty informative, although I haven't had a chance to read through it yet. But, it shows a lot of great pics of Michael and his different harp guitars, with the different pickups. The long silver bar is an autoharp pickup, and in the pics where his head is shaved (circa '95) you can see the 2 Barcus Berry pickups glued onto the top of the harp, near the harps soundhole.

Stephen Bennett told me he uses just a standard K&K Pure Western pickup on the guitar part's bridge plate. It picks up the sub basses just fine.
